Iceland

Iceland, known for its astonishing nature full of geysers, glaciers, volcanoes and thermal springs, is also home to the first parliament grounds in Europe (from the year 930). Most homes are still heated using geothermal water and only a tiny amount of fossil fuels are burned here. Icelandic people are known for their “Viking clap” and many people still tend to believe in elves and trolls. So hop onto an Icelandic horse and ride into the Midnight Sun. Did you know that Halldór Laxness (Nobel prize winner in literature), Björk (singer) and Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, the world's first democratically directly elected female president, all come from Iceland?
